Modern Addition

EH architecture + design is currently working on a modern addition to a Cornwall home about 35 miles south of Burlington.  The original structure to which we’re adding, began as a grouping of traditional New England buildings and has grown and evolved with its owners’ family.  The new addition is a clear departure from the historically detailed, existing structures, but does not depart entirely–it is a modern interpretation of  the historic.  Clapboards become crisp, anodized aluminum panels, field stone becomes sleek, linear slabs.  One enormous advantage to going modern?  EH could sculpt the house to fit the needs and program of our clients, respond to specific views and site features, and use large expanses of glass to bring the gorgeous landscape indoors.  Look for updates on construction progress and more design developments!
