Net Zero-Ready Modern Farmhouse

Built in the Williams Hill Community of Charlotte, a small subdivision of energy-efficient/high performance homes, this new net-zero ready home was designed for a growing family.  Perched on a wooded hill, the house takes full advantage of solar exposure and open views.  Once solar panels are installed, net-zero performance will be achieved.  Robust air sealing and insulation, and a high-performance glazing system help create an impressive building envelope.  The house, though simple in form, takes advantage of angled roof geometries and open spaces to create varied rooms with dramatic woodland views and sunlight.  The palette, both interior and exterior, is an updated version of the classic vernacular New England Home.
